Formed in 1800 due to a massive 80 mile log jam on the Red River that flooded the great Louisiana cypress valley Caddo Lake is not only the only natural lake in Texas but an important spiritual region to many Texans. The Caddo peoples settled the area surrounding the flooded valley making the region a cultural and economic hub. To this day the region is a major economic hub due to the proximity of Jefferson City, Shreveport and Longview.
