The Boat House
Limited Edition of 500 (Limited Editions includes all media types/sizes)
The Boat House was originally built in the 1930s. This Boat House has survived various owners over many decades and in various stages of disrepair. In 2001, the boat house was put up for sale and purchased by the son of the Lord Mayor of Perth at the time. The boat house had become very run down by that time and faced with government threats to demolish and remove it, the family began to rebuild it. At the suggestion of a family friend, a local federal member of parliament, the boat house was repainted in a bold blue color. On 6 February 2004, the refurbished boat house was re-launched by a Perth yachtsman and Perth sailor. It was also given a facelift in late 2015, which included repainting the exterior and replacing the wooden jetty with a new one with steel pylons.
This boat house or “Boatshed” as named by the people of Perth has become an icon of Western Australia.
