The Monterey Cypress is indigenous to the Northern California Coast and is the only area in the United States where the tree grows naturally. As the intense ocean winds press upon the tree it creates a windswept look as the tree pushes over inland. These trees are magnificent and create a mysterious picturesque view down the coastline beaches. Shreve captured this image while trekking down the coastal region surrounding Carmel California.
